200 odd bikes came from as far away as the midlands and the South Coast to take part in what in the first annual Charity ride in aide of Weston Hospice. Organised by roger and Lyn in memory of Lyn’s brother, the ride wound through Burrington Coombe and Cheddar before ending on Weston seafront, where all the bikes were lined up along the prom. It was hoped to raise £1,000 but over £2,500 was raised on the day.
At our last meeting the change of venue was discussed, and concerns were expressed, although the staff at Congresbury Village Hall were friendly and accommodating it was felt that a degree of resentment was apparent from the locals, also concerns were expressed over the car park being used by the local boy racers. So it has been decided, after a vote was taken, that we would be returning to Cromwells, as it is being taken over, and hopefully will be more accommodating to our needs.
The Troll will lead a ride to visit North Somerset NABD at their venue The Watchfield Inn, Watchfield. Meet at Cromwells at 7:30pm, this will be a shortish, not to fast ride so that the smaller bikes should be able to keep up.
Who else would like to put on a ride or visit? It doesn’t have to be an evening ride; it was decided at our AGM to try some weekend events. We need to do a mixture of long and short rides to hopefully cater to everyone’s tastes.
